Overview:
Get ready for a week of hands-on cooking, creativity, and culinary confidence at Forklift Virginia! This session is designed for campers ages 10 and up to learn real-world kitchen skills at their own cooking station while preparing exciting new dishes each day. We’ll begin with foundational knife techniques and classic comfort foods, explore global cuisines, and wrap up with a full pastry chef day. Campers gain valuable experience while having fun, trying new flavors, and bringing home something delicious every day.
Daily Themes and Menus:
Day 1: Knife Skills & Kitchen Basics
Campers will learn safe and proper knife handling, prepping fresh produce to build a colorful garden salad, hearty chicken noodle soup, and sizzling chicken fajitas with scratch-made salsa.
Day 2: Healthy & Hearty
A full day of feel-good foods. Campers will prepare veggie-packed grain bowls with homemade dressing, baked chicken tenders, and warm banana-oat muffins—all with balanced nutrition and flavor.
Day 3: Global Flavors – Asian Fusion
Travel to East Asia with handmade scallion pancakes, sesame chicken with jasmine rice, and veggie spring rolls with sweet chili sauce.
Day 4: Global Flavors – Italian Favorites & Pizza Party
A Forklift favorite! Campers will make pizza dough from scratch and create personalized pizzas with a variety of toppings. They'll also roll and bake homemade breadsticks, simmer classic beef meatballs in marinara sauce, and finish with cinnamon sugar dessert pizzas topped with icing drizzle.
Day 5: Pastry Chef for a Day
A sweet finale to the week! Campers will bake and decorate cupcakes, roll cinnamon sugar palmiers, dip chocolate-covered pretzels, and make small-batch ice cream from scratch.
